About the Blog

The name "Lost in Transition" refers to my new, special talent for often forgetting where my gear is when I enter the transition area in a triathlon...

In a triathlon, the "transition"area is the location and time in a the race where you swap your gear between the different segments of the race.  For example, you visit T1 (or Transition 1) between the swim and bike portions of the race, and you visit T2 between the bike and run segments.

I started this blog so I can keep track of all the great things I've learned during my sports adventures and so I can stop spamming my friends with long race reports by email.  I also want to share what I learn while volunteering and coaching as well!

About Me

I currently race all sorts of fun events in the women's 35-39 age group for an awesome club team called Red Performance Multisport.  I grew up in New England and just moved from CA to IL with my wonderful husband, LarryFor many years I was a community college biology professor involved in all sorts of projects including curriculum development, community outreach, grant development, and scientific research.  Now I am hoping to transition into a new role in education while volunteering with an incredible club (Dare2tri Paratriathlon Club) and coach triathlon through Red Performance Multisport (currently IRONMAN and USA Triathlon Level 1 Certified Coach).  For 2017, I am also proud to support the Tri Equal Equally Inspiring Program as a volunteer coach.

Always trying to play it forward, race (& live) with gratitude, and inspire others to do the same, I have been known to set crazy goals for myself (nickname: Crazy Pants) and learn a ton as I try (or tri!) to achieve them.
